Support your neighbors! Here is a list of Tavistock Farms residents that own or manage their own businesses:
  • Bill Peterson is the CEO of Flying Ship Technologies, Corp., a Loudoun-based tech startup that is building autonomous wing-in-ground-effect cargo drones. Flying Ships are classified as maritime vessels, not aircraft. They travel on a cushion of air just over water to provide an eco-friendly, cost effective alternative to airfreight using maritime logistics networks.
  • Jim Rhinesmith was inspired to create Rynoz Rub by tasting many different foods from around the world. Throughout his travels to over 40 countries, he was intrigued with how the flavors and methods of cooking varied by each country and region. He has combined his passion for cooking, American Made products, and world-wide flavors to give you a little something extra to enjoy with your family and friends!
  • Suzanne Paynter repurposes vintage and antique jewelry pieces into one-of-a-kind jewelry. Her work may be purchased through her online shop or in several Virginia boutique and museum shops. Free shipping, or hand delivery within Tavistock😉 !
  • Nicole Hamlin is the owner and solo stylist at Salon Hamlin. She offers a variety of services including, color, highlights, haircuts, curly hair dry cutting, balayage, and so much more. Her salon is conveniently located in Phenix Salon suites in One Loudoun. She loves helping her guests reach their hair goals.
  • Michael Turner is the Center Director of the Huntington Learning Center in Ashburn. They tutor students ranging in age from pre-K to college or even older, and offer 1-on-1 tutoring in (1) foundational reading, writing, and math skills; (2) subject tutoring a wide variety of math topics, sciences, English, history, and foreign languages; and (3) test preparation for the SAT, ACT, AP, and high school entrance exams.

<<<<<<<<< Meet Cheryssa Smith

Tell us about yourself and your family.
Hi everyone! I'm Cheryssa Smith, and I live on Springhouse with my husband Crawford and daughter Chelsea (18 months old). I grew up in New Jersey, went to Villanova University, and travelled with Up with People. I love to dance, do puzzles, and cook. I prefer summer over winter, my favorite movie genre is horror, and fountains bring me peace and joy.
What brought you to Leesburg?
After looking at houses in Northern Virginia for 7 months, our perfect house found us in June 2019 - which happened to be here in Tavistock! Leesburg wasn't originally on our radar, but it was meant to be. We not only loved the house, but we walked around the neighborhood and the pond (with fountains!), and we knew it just felt like home.

What’s your favorite thing about living in Tavistock?
Finally meeting neighbors! We were cooped up for so long during COVID and then having a baby. It was amazing to forge such great friendships at community events like the concert series and through Crawford playing on the neighborhood softball team. We look forward to meeting many more of you on our walks around the fountains (another of my fave things, of course) or at the playground this Spring!

What are your favorite restaurants in the area?
We've only tipped the iceberg of local restaurants, but these are some of my faves: Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel is a New Jersey breakfast staple and Deli South does it right! I'm a sucker for good salmon sashimi, and love the sushi at Noku. My Italian side prefers the short rib rigatoni at Travinia, and Firebirds has perfected filet mignon (and gets bonus points for creme brulee cheesecake, YUM!). As for a brewery, can anywhere beat the view at Bear Chase?

What's an interesting thing about yourself?
I have donated my hair several times to Locks of Love and Wigs for Kids. The first time was in 1998, and my hair grows so fast that it's something I've continued to do. I just donated 16" of hair for my 9th or 10th time (I lost count!).

What are you most looking forward to in 2022?
Going on vacation! And watching my toddler continue to grow and learn. We've all been home-bound for far too long, and it's time for us to get out on some adventures!
